As part of the 29th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), Azerbaijan is presenting its sustainable tourism practices at the "Green Zone" destination pavilion.

Spanning 200 square meters, the pavilion offers international visitors and media representatives insights into Azerbaijan’s tourism potential, featuring an interactive map and promotional videos showcasing the country’s attractions.

The pavilion highlights Azerbaijan’s national cuisine, traditional tea culture, local sweets, and wines, along with a "Slow Food Travel" experience that promotes biodiversity conservation. Visitors can also witness live demonstrations of Azerbaijani handicrafts, including carpet weaving, sock knitting, wool spinning, ceramic painting, təkəldüz embroidery, and coppersmithing.

A VR (virtual reality) experience allows guests to embark on a virtual journey to Xinaliq, Yanardag, Ateshgah, Icherisheher, Sheki Khan’s Palace, Lake Goygol, and other historical and cultural landmarks of Azerbaijan.
Throughout the 10-day event, daily presentations will cover eco-tourism products such as hiking and birdwatching, business tourism opportunities, Azerbaijan’s UNESCO World Heritage sites, and various aspects of Azerbaijan’s tourism industry.

As part of COP29’s official agenda, November 20 will feature the High-Level Ministerial Meeting on Enhanced Climate Action in Tourism, marking the first-ever tourism-related initiative within COP history. Additionally, panel discussions and side events will explore the role of tourism in addressing climate change.

Ahead of COP29, Azerbaijan’s State Tourism Agency has implemented key infrastructure improvements in Absheron and Altiaghaj National Parks, installing visitor information signs, direction markers, and light infrastructure to enhance the visitor experience.

To assist COP29 visitors with event and tourism-related information, five mobile tourism information centers have been set up at key transport hubs in Baku. Additionally, a total of eight tourism information centers are operating daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM at locations such as Nizami Street (behind "Nargiz" Mall), Seaside National Park (behind "Park Bulvar" Mall), Albert Agarunov Street, Koroglu Metro Station (Baku Stadium exit), Heydar Aliyev Palace, "Port Baku" Mall exit, "Sea Breeze Resort," and Terminal 2 of Heydar Aliyev International Airport.
